Nellore: Emergency personnel were trying their best on Thursday to save the life of a three-year-old girl who remains trapped between loose soil and the PVC casing of a 27-feet deep freshly-dug borewell at Nandemmapuram in Kavali mandal of Nellore.
G. Mounika was playing in her neighbour's yard when she fell into the borewell, which was dug on Wednesday.
Sarpanch N. Srinivasulu told DC that a JCB was pressed into service within an hour of the incident. But there has been hardly any progress due to loose soil, which keeps falling back into the hole.
Mounika is the daughter of G. Gopal and Tirupatamma who live in Chennai. Tirupatamma hails from the village and had come to her mother’s home in the village along with Mounika two months ago for the delivery of her second child.
Police, fire and revenue officials are monitoring the rescue operations.
