3-supplementary test system to continue this year: AKTU

To help students overcome year-out

Thiruvananthapuram: The decision taken by the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University to conduct three supplementary tests for engineering students to help them overcome year-out will continue till further orders. However, the relaxation on the minimum credits needed for promotion from first and second semester to third semester will be 35 credits from next year. The relaxation in promotion norms by lowering it to 26 credits is only for this year.

Year-out is the scheme by which a student with a prescribed number of credits is not promoted to the next semester. Only students with 80 out of the 94 credits in the third and fourth semesters will be promoted to the fifth semester and only students with 110 out of 124 credits in fifth and sixth semester to the seventh semester. The university has also decided to give back the revaluation fee to candidates who got more than 15 marks in the revaluation process.

The procedure was that in case a student gets more than 15 marks in revaluation, the answer papers are again sent for a third valuation. The marks ascertained after the third valuation are considered as final. More than 800 candidates got an addition of 15 marks after going through the process during the first and second semester BTech examinations of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University . There is also a recommendation to take action against the teacher who conducted the first valuation.
