CCTV Cameras in Police Stations: Telangana HC Closes Petition

Hyderabad: A division bench of the Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji on Tuesday closed a taken-up petition on the installation of CCTV cameras in police stations after Roopender, government pleader for home, said that the subject matter was also under consideration before the Supreme Court.

Chief Justice Bhuyan said the High Court hearing a similar petition will be duplication of work.

Roopender said that the government had filed an affidavit before the Supreme Court, stating that out of 774 police stations in the state, 369 had CCTV cameras. He said that the government told the apex court that the police had got sanction to install the cameras in another 103 police stations and the next date of hearing was July 25.
