Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will launch the agriculture department's latest initiative, "Onathinu oru muram pachakkari" at Secretariat durbar hall at 11:30 am on Wednesday Almost 6.3 million families in the state are joining hands with the latest initiative of the department. The objective of the scheme is to rear organic vegetables from one's home without relying on the pesticide-laced vegetables from across the border during the imminent festive season.
The department is hoping that every single household will rear at least five types of vegetables during the Onam season for the festive sadya. 63 lakh seed packets, 45 lakh vegetable saplings and more than a lakh growbags will be distributed under this scheme. The department is also aiming to sustain the scheme even after the Onam season.
