When the police arrested Ramkumar in his house, he was unable to speak due to the injuries he sustained on his neck.

Chennai: After alleging that his son was being ‘framed’ by the police in the murder case of techie Swathi, father of the lone accused, P. Ramkumar, is all set to move the Madras high court seeking a CBI probe into the gruesome murder.

In a letter sent to Tamil Nadu Progressive Advocates’ Association, his father, R. Paramasivam, 50, of Meenatchipuram, Tirunelveli district, has requested the association to take up the matter in the court as he had no one to support his family. Following this, the association has appointed a 17- member advocate team led by advocate S.P. Ramaraj, a retired district judge.

Speaking to reporters S.P. Ramaraj, said the association has proposed to appear for the accused in the court and file a writ petition before high court soon seeking CBI probe. While condemning the murder of Swathi, Ramaraj said no woman in the state should face similar fate. At the same time, no innocent person should be convicted.

When the police arrested Ramkumar in his house, he was unable to speak due to the injuries he sustained on his neck. However, police claimed that hours later, Ramkumar gave confession statement to a magistrate in the hospital.
