BJP slams Indian Union Muslim League for Zakir Naik support

Ramesh also asked the state government to take steps to prevent Kerala natives moving to ISIS camps.

Kochi: BJP state vice-president M T Ramesh said on Monday that the bid of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) to whitewash preachers like Zakir Naik is dangerous for the society and nation and this is as part of the bid of the party to appease sections which did not join it during last Assembly elections. Addressing a press conference here, he said that the ghost of Muhammad Ali Jinnah is entering the frame of League leaders which is evident with their current stand on Zakir.

“It is not just BJP is talking against Zakir, several nations have either banned his speeches or denied entry to him. These include Muslim dominated nations like Bahrain and Bangladesh. There is nothing against any particular religion,” said Ramesh. He said that League has taken this stand when several Muslim organizations have taken an opposite stand.

Ramesh also asked the state government to take steps to prevent Kerala natives moving to ISIS camps. “When we raised the issue of Love Jihad, there were attempts to ridicule us. Now when things become clear, the truth stands exposed,” he said adding previous governments ignored police and intelligence warning on the issue.

He also said that bid of the CPM to appease aggressive elements in Muslim community also resulted in the present situation. “Some of those missing have been from Communist villages in Thrikkaripur. The resulted from anti-BJP tirade by CPM,” he said.
