Focus on skill upgradation of youths and more job opportunities: AP Minister

KURNOOL: In a significant move to equip the youth with industry-relevant skills, AP finance minister Buggana Rajendranath announced the modernisation of polytechnic institutions in the engineering and manufacturing sectors, with a specific focus on Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).

The presence of numerous industrialists at the GIS Summit is cited as a testament to the state's attractiveness for investment.

The finance minister inaugurated the newly constructed polytechnic college building at Virupapuram in Adoni on Monday, which was completed at a cost of ₹7.65 crores. The polytechnic college was sanctioned in 2009 during the tenure of former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.

Emphasising the state government's commitment to promoting women's growth across all fields, the finance minister said the government would encourage their participation.

The finance minister said regular curriculum updates were being undertaken to equip students with desirable skills.

Highlighting the government's achievements, the finance minister said 40,000 schools have been provided with corporate-level amenities such as toilets and drinking water.

The minister promised the utilization of District Mineral Foundation (DMF) funds for the overall development of the Adoni constituency. He cited the transformation of neglected schools into modern institutions through the Nadu-Nedu initiative.

The minister distributed 'Jagananna Vidya Kanuka' kits to students at a municipal school in Adoni.

This apart, Rajendranath inaugurated the newly constructed divisional sub-treasury in Adoni. The office, equipped with modern amenities, was completed in two phases at a cost of '1.08 crore. This office would facilitate faster services that would be more accessible for the people of Adoni, he said.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Kurnool MP Sanjeev Kumar, ZP chairman Papireddy, legislator Sai Prasad, MLC Madhusudan, district collector Srijana, Adoni sub-collector Abhishek and others.
