Hyderabad: A man was arrested by the SR Nagar police for posing as a police official and demanding money from a lorry driver at Balkampet on Monday.
“The man was identified as Raj Shivaji, who was pretending to be a police officer and was halting a lorry to extort money,” said the Mohd Waheeduddin, police inspector of SR Nagar.
“The man halted a lorry and demanded Rs 10,000 from the driver without stating any reason. Upon receiving information from a reliable source, a team was sent out to the spot and the man was arrested” said the official.
He was brought to SR Nagar police station and was charged under relevant Sections of the IPC.
