Shafil to pursue mathematics at IISc
Kozhikode: Shafil Maheen has a set a record. The lad hailing from Tirur in Malappuram district has secured the 4th rank in the JEE advanced entrance examination by scoring 331 out of 366 marks in the advanced round, securing 90.43 per cent. He got 168 marks in paper I and 163 in paper II.
“I’m feel extremely happy and content since clearing the advanced level has been my dream from class 11,” said Shafil, son of Niyazi, a teacher at SSM Polytechnic College, Tirur, and Dr. Shamgida NIyazi who works at Kavanthur primary health centre.
Shafil, who got the 8th rank at the national level in JEE Mains and 1st in the state, aspires to pursue mathematics stream at the Indian Institute of Science.
The family moved to Kozhikode from Tirur for Shafil’s education at Rays Public School here. “We are extremely happy,” said his parents. “Shafil has been preparing for this for a long time. He was extremely focused on this examination and definitely deserved this.”
“My main aim was to clear the advanced,” Shafil told DC. “All my energy went into that and not for selecting a particular college.” “I focused on the syllabus and did thorough revisions for the last two years,” he said about his study pattern.
Out of approximately 10.2 lakh students who appeared in JEE Mains at 1781 centres across the country, around 2.2 lakh students were selected to the Advanced round.
