Hyderabad: Incomplete metro bazar irks locals

Over 70 school buses, 30-35 water tankers move in and out of the colony on a daily basis.

Hyderabad: Metro Rythu Bazaar work, taken up as a part of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project, has been left undone for four months at Bharathnagar Colony in Sanathnagar, leading to huge public inconvience.

The residents of the colony held a dharna on Sunday, to protest against the hardships caused not only to Bharat Nagar Colony but also the surrounding colonies like SP Nagar, JP Nagar, Maheswari Nagar, Shakthi Nagar and Ramreddy Nagar, by blocking the access to these colonies.

The Rythu Bazaar construction is blocking the entrance to the colony, while the service road is occupied by vegetable vendors, fruit and tea stalls, and no traffic police are available to direct the traffic on these roads, causing much problems to the residents and commuters.

A complaint was filed with GHMC by the colony residents, requesting it to demolish the constructed foundation and also clear the construction materials from the roads. However, no action was taken to help the commuters and residents.

Mr P. Nagi Reddy a resident, said, “There are over 4,000 houses on this route, this Metro Rythu Bazaar construction is blocking the access to all these colonies causing inconvience to the commuters and residents. So we request the GHMC and Metro Construction work heads to stop this construction”.

Over 70 school buses, 30-35 water tankers move in and out of the colony on a daily basis. This construction has interrupted the services to these colonies and the service road is being provided to access the colony. Mr Murali Mohan, PRO for Hyderabad Metro Rail, said, “There will be action taken as soon as possible on the issue about the construction material and also the occupancy of the road.”
