Mobile clinics to check fever cases in Kerala
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mobile clinics to be out on the roads soon to deal with increasing fever cases in different parts of the state. The idea is to screen those with fever at their doorsteps for symptoms of dengue, malaria, leptospirosis. Each mobile unit will have doctors and nursing staff. In case of symptoms of fever, patients will be referred for further consultation and lab investigations.
The mobile health clinics are being pressed into service by health department in association with KGMOA, IMA. Special fever clinics, fever wards are also being readied at PHCs, CHCs, hospitals anticipating a surge in monsoon related vector borne and water borne diseases. All DMOs have been asked to effectively implement diease control and treatment protocol in health care institutions.
Health Minister K K Shailaja is seeking daily updates from DHS to keep a close watch on fever and other diseases during monsoon season. Meanwhile, Director Health Services Dr R Ramesh refuted reports regarding suspected cholera cases in the state.
“So far we have not received any cases of cholera form any part of the state. However, all diarrheal cases are being closely monitored in primary and community health centres. But only those cases which have suspected symptoms of diarrhea are being sent for laboratory tests,” he added.
