Bird on car: Atheist Siddu becomes superstitious

The story has all the fuel the opposition needs to target Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who has made a big to- do about superstition.

Bengaluru: His opponents may be “crowing” all about it, but Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s office has shot down all speculation that seeing a crow sitting on the bonnet of his car, sent him into such a tizzy that he decided to trade it in for a new one.

The story has all the fuel the opposition needs to target Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who has made a big to- do about superstition. It is said that a crow sat on the bonnet of his official car recently and refused to fly away even when shooed by his staff. Finally it had to be physically carried away.

A few astrologers, reportedly consulted, saw it as a bad omen and recommended he buy a new car, and now that he has a brand new Toyota Fortuner, bearing registration number, 'KA 01 GA 2016,' the “crow theory” is gaining ground.

But at pains to uphold the Chief Minister’s rationalist credentials, his office is strongly denying it. The old car, its says, had done almost three lakh kilometers and was damaged, and so the order was placed for buying the Toyota Fortuner , which was delivered last week.

But it was only on Saturday that Mr Siddaramaiah began using it. Wonder if it was the “auspicious day” to do so ?
