Kishan says state govt failed on law and order front

HYDERABAD: Union minister G. Kishan Reddy said on Friday that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao who sleeps in a bullet-proofed bedroom and has a bullet proofed office in the Secretariat has thrown the security of the people of Hyderabad and the state to the winds by tying the hands of the police.

Speaking on the recent arrests of six persons allegedly associated with Hizb-Ut-Tahrir (HUT) in Hyderabad, Kishan Reddy said, “It does not matter where a person involved in terror activity works. It is for the government to crush such activities with an iron hand.”

The minister asked, “Of what use is the state police’s command and control facility, built spending hundreds of crores of rupees, if those involved in terror networks cannot be identified,” and pointed out that it took the police from Madhya Pradesh to come here and reveal what was going on.

“The state government must give the police here freedom to work,” Kishan Reddy said and added that Telangana “has failed on the law and order front.”

He said he knew how good the Telangana police were are from his interactions with police officials during his tenure as the Union minister of state for home. “They need to be given the freedom to act. The current situation is that they do not even get into their vehicles and go anywhere unless clearances are given from the Pragathi Bhavan. The same is the case in other districts where BRS leaders call the shots and give instructions to the police,” he said.

Kishan Reddy said restrictions were not just imposed on police officials but also those from other departments. “These officials cannot go into the Old City to collect power and water bills. If they do, they are attacked and the CM does not utter a single word. That is because AIMIM leaders have made it clear that they control the BRS government’s steering, accelerator, and the brakes,” he said.
