Hearsay no reason to act against cops: CM Pinarayi Vijayan

On the north south divide in police department, the chief minister said no such division existed in Kerala.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday reiterated that no action would be taken against police based on campaigns or hearsay. At a press conference here the chief minister said that he would not hesitate to take action against police officials are found guilty of any wrong doing. But if some people get together to demand action against upright officers that will not happen, he added. On the north south divide in police department, the chief minister said no such division existed in Kerala.

“North Indians or south Indians all are officers under the government. They are responsible for adhering to the policies and programmes of the government,” he added. Referring to conspiracy angle in the protest outside DGP office, the chief minister said these things were under probe. He said conspiracy can happen if there is more than one person. Here five people have been arrested. Pinarayi said he cannot say whether Sreejith was involved in conspiracy. “Sreejith himself admitted that SUCI people were there and that is a fact. He was forced to admit that as SUCI members had handed over their phone to him before going to jail. Did they just spring up at the spot? Did they reach there without knowing anything? Who invited them? The chief minister expressed surprise how a family which is close to party could be hijacked by SUCI.
