Telangana HC not inclined to issue orders on no-trust motion

Hyderabad: Justice Tadakamalla Vinod Kumar of the Telangana High Court on Friday was not inclined to issue interim orders to stay the proceedings of no-confidence motion, moved against the chairpersons of Bhuvanagiri and Khagaznagar municipalities and others.

The petitioners approached the High Court stating that the no-confidence proceedings were issued by the respective district collectors based on a representation by some councillors, who had defected to the ruling party.

They further submitted that the collectors had scheduled the no-confidence motion without following the provisions of Municipalities Act 2019 and guidelines laid regarding the appointment of chairpersons and vice-chairpersons. They requested the court to stay such proceedings by the collectors, which the court was not inclined to do. However, the court issued notices to the collectors to file counters within eight weeks.

The judge also refused to give relief to former chairperson of Nalgonda municipality Mandadi Saidi Reddy seeking his reinstatement. Saidi Reddy of BRS had on January 8 failed the floor test, following which the district collector appointed Abbagoni Ramesh as the new chairperson. Saidi Reddy challenged the decision and the court issued notices to the collector.
