NO-Confidence Motion Moved by BRS Against Congress Chairman Fails

Adilabad: The no-confidence motions moved by the Congress against BRS chairman and vice chairman of the Mancherial and Naspur respectively were passed on Friday.

Meanwhile, the no-confidence motion moved by the BRS against the Congress chairman and vice-chairman of Bellampalli failed as there was no quorum at the ward councillors’ meeting.

No-confidence motions were moved in Bellampalli and Nasarpur municipalities on Friday and in Mancherial on Thursday.

In Bellampalli municipality, there were a total of 34 ward councilors. As one councillor passed away, the number reduced to 33.

As per the rule, a two-third majority of ward councillors – 22-- is needed for the consideration of the no-confidence motion. However, only 20 ward councillors attended the meeting in Bellampalli municipality.

RDO Harikrishna announced that the no-confidence motion moved against chairman Jakkula Swetha and vice-chairman Bathula Sudarshan by the BRS was lost due to lack of quorum. Hence, Swetha and Sudarshan will continue in their positions.

The no-confidence motion moved by the Congress against Mancherial chairman Penta Rajanna and vice chairman Gajula Mukesh Goud was passed. Some 26 Congress councilors and one BJP councilor supported the no-confidence motion. The municipality has a total of 36 ward councillors. The chairman and vice-chairman resigned from their posts ahead of the no-confidence motion.

The no-confidence motion was moved by the Congress party against the BRS chairman E Prabhakar and vice- chairman Thota Sreenu of the Naspur municipality. The Congress has a strength of 16 councillors. The CPI that has two and the BJP that has one councillor backed the motion. The municipality has a total of 25 ward councillors.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Mancherial MLA Kokkirala Premsagar Rao said, “We will win both the chairman and vice-Chairman posts of Naspur and Manchreial municipalities whenever elections are held for these posts.
