Chennai: A complaint against cinema director and actor Manobala was submitted to the City Police in connection with a post he made in a WhatsApp group trolling the recently elected AIADMK General Secretary V. K. Sasikala and Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam.
The petitioner, ‘Cine’ Saravanan, a party cadre, stated in his plaint that he came to know about the post through his common friends who are present in the WhatsApp group among cine actors and members of South Indian Artists Association.
The post made veiled references to the lines of business and trade the duo were into in their early days before their entry into politics. The petitioner claimed that the post defamed the duo besides students and demanded action against the actor. The post made by Manobala had gone viral and its screenshots taken from the group were shared and doing the rounds in social networking sites. The petition was forwarded to the Cyber Crime Wing for further action.
