Visakhapatnam: In a bizarre incident on Saturday, residents of Kommadi locality in Vizag found themselves in high spirits after a truck loaded with liquor overturned on the NH-16 stretch between Madhurawada and Kommadi. The mishap resulted in a cascade of liquor bottles spilling onto the road, creating a scene of unexpected jubilation.
The chaos ensued as the driver lost control, causing the truck to overturn and scatter hundreds of liquor bottles. A video capturing the frenzy shows locals and commuters seizing the opportunity, scrambling to claim as many non-damaged bottles as possible. The impromptu celebration caused a temporary disruption in traffic, with the overturned truck obstructing the road.
After getting information about the incident, police officials swiftly reached the scene and dispersed the crowd. The locals expressed concern that, had the police not arrived promptly, more bottles would have vanished into the hands of eager revelers. Eventually, the overturned vehicle was removed, restoring normal traffic flow.
This incident echoes a similar occurrence in Kasimkota mandal in Anakapalle district earlier this year, where a truck carrying hundreds of beers overturned near Bayyavaram. On that occasion, locals seized the opportunity to stock up on the non-damaged bottles, with some even halting their vehicles to partake in the unexpected windfall.
