Promote legal literacy, says outgoing Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami

Goswami said legal profession is a complex and challenging one and all young lawyers should note that there was no substitute for hard work

VIJAYAWADA: High Court Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, who has since been transferred to Chhattisgarh High Court, was given a grand farewell by the full court in the High Court hall on Sunday.

Justice Goswami expressed happiness in discharging duties in the AP High Court. He said that the legal profession is a complex and challenging one and all young lawyers should note that there was no substitute for hard work. They should fully understand the concept of social justice, he added. He said that there was a need to create awareness about the judiciary among the people as well as promote legal literacy.

AP High Court advocate-general S Sriram said that Justice Goswami, who has been the Chief Justice of the High Court for the last eight months, had done a good job and given equal opportunities to all.

AP High Court Bar Association president K Janaki Rami Reddy and Bar Council of AP president Ganta Rama Rao, judges, additional advocate general, registrars, public prosecutors, Bar Council members and others were present on the occasion.
