Congress 'I' group gives berth to Kuzhalnadan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ‘Revive Congress’ leader Mathew Kuzhalnadan has been given a berth in the ‘I’ group of opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, according to the group leaders. Earlier, he denied the reports about his joining the ‘I’ camp. He has been included in the list of the 282-member KPCC governing council from the Vypeen block in Ernakulam district.
Mr Kuzhalnadan had approached Mr Chennithala for an entry into the group as he felt that he needed the support of a group to survive in politics. Delhi- based Mathew who belongs to Muvattupuzha is keen to get a foothold there. It was after several rounds of talks in the group that they finally decided to take Mr Kuzhalnadan into their fold, said a group leader.
“Chennithala entrusted 'I' group honchos, UDF convener P. P. Thankachan and party spokesperson Joseph Vazhakkan, to rope in Kuzhalnadan and include him in the KPCC list under ‘I’ group quota from Vypeen block,” said the leader. Meanwhile, Revive Congress members said that they will continue their fight to save the Congress from group politics. Though they are disappointed that Mr Kuzhalnadan had ditched them, they said that they had the blessings of the AICC leadership.
