KOCHI: Kochi Mayor Soumini Jain has expressed the suspicion that a conspiracy has been hatched by a group with vested interest to sabotage the waste processing at Brahmapuram plant owned by the Kochi Corporation. In a statement on Saturday the mayor said the attempt to prevent the functioning of the plant by filing complaints on technical issues will only help in the closure of the plant. “The attempt will only help in creating a serious problem of pollution”, she added.
Terming that the existing plant at Brahmapuram is functioning efficiently in the treatment of waste from Kochi and its neighbouring areas, she said the issue of processing the piled up plastic waste has not been resolved fully. For a smooth functioning of the plant the mayor sought the support and cooperation of the people in the locality and the different wings of the government.
