Bengaluru will top the world in innovation, says RV Deshpande

Karnataka is set to build the future of India. It is time to innovate and invest in the state, Deshpande said.

We will build the future of India,” said Minister for Large and Medium Industries R.V. Deshpande, inaugurating the India International Innovation Fair 2016 on Saturday.

Quoting the 'industrialise or perish' slogan of Sir M. Visvesvaraya, he said, “Now, the slogan should be 'innovate or perish'. There are so many problems haunting the people, right from infrastructure, environment, traffic and water."

“At present, Bengaluru hosts 3,100 startups. By 2020, the number is expected to cross 11,500. Innovation is the key for success of the country. We have to nurture startups and speed them up,” said Mr Shivaram Mallavalli, President – South, Indian Innovators Association.

The first of its kind event was organised by the Indian Innovators Association and supported by the International Federation of Inventors Association, a Geneva-based organization. Over 16 countries are participating in the event.
