ANANTAPUR: Investigations have revealed that the nude video supposedly involving Hindupur MP Gorantla Madhav had emerged from a number based in the United Kingdom.

Addressing media here on Wednesday, Anantapur SP Fakkeerappa Kaginelli disclosed: “The video was first posted from the UK through +447443703968 at 2:07 a.m. on August 4. This Vodaphone number got added in iTDP’s official WhatsApp group just a few seconds before the nude video was posted. The UK person had forwarded it to five persons,” the SP revealed.

He maintained that the video circulating on social media platforms is not original. It is a reshoot from another phone, morphed and mixed. We can register a case only after the original video posted is traced, he underlined.

Another reason for not registering the case is that no complaint has been received so far from either the victim or the MP. But Two Town police have registered a case based on a complaint by Gorantla Madhav’s close aide Venkateswara Rao. It complained that circulation of such a video is tarnishing the image of MP and has also hurt his family members and fans.

Replying to a question as to why cannot the available video be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory, the SP explained that until the person who first posted the video is identified and the original video obtained, there cannot be a clarity whether the video is original or morphed.

Fakkeerappa said theirs has only been a preliminary investigation. “We have asked Vodafone to share details of the person who posted video from the UK. Further investigation will be taken up thereafter,” he emphasised.
