Methane projects not harmful, says H Raja
Thanjavur: Even as farmers are up in arms against the proposed hydrocarbon projects in Cauvery delta, BJP national secretary, H. Raja, maintained that the proposed hydrocarbon projects will not harm the environment and cultivation.
After garlanding the statue of King Raja Raja Cholan near the ‘Big temple’ on Wednesday, Raja told presspersons here that Israel’s energy needs are met by hydrocarbon only. Israel is in the forefront in agriculture and they do not apply chemical fertilisers.
Raja explained that water is available within 2,000 feet. Hydrocarbon will be extracted in 6,000 ft. So there is no connection between water and hydrocarbon. Moreover, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also ruled out fission technology.
“So there is no harm in hydrocarbon or Methane projects,” added Raja. He also alleged that a plot is being hatched to destroy culture and tradition of Tamil Nadu.
In the pretext of dalits, plans are afoot to divide Hindus. King Raja Raja Cholan is known for his water management and land reforms. His son Rajendra Cholan maintained a navy. Hence, his name has been given to a ship.
“In this situation, Pa. Ranjith, film director, is indulging in mud-slinging and denigrating King Raja Raja Cholan. This is condemnable,” Raja added.
The BJP has planned to hold a demonstration and rally protesting against the statements of Pa. Ranjith against the King in one of his public speeches. As the police have not given them permission, it was changed into a felicitation meeting for King Raja Raja Cholan and Raja garlanded the king’s statue.
