Hindupur MP extends support to protestors for reopening temple

ANANTAPUR: In an interesting twist, Hindupur MP Gorantla Madhav extended support to his Kuruba community for a protest after the officials reportedly closed the traditional Beerappa temple that was also included with the community hall at Venkatapuram village in BK Samudram mandal in the district on Saturday.

The Beerappa temple was built with donations from local Kuruba community members and also with MP lads of then MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy. Following a dispute between two groups, the officials reportedly restricted entry into the temple and locked the doors two days ago. As the issue went viral, Hindupur MP Gorantla Madhav rushed to the village on Saturday and extended support to protestors who were demanding to reopen the temple.

Sources said the temple was being maintained by TD supporters while a group of YSRC men were forced to close it. Gornatla Madhav told DC that he convinced both groups and directed officials to reopen the temple and community hall in which Beerappa statues were kept. The temple was reopened on Saturday.

As the videos went viral on social media over the MP protest at a temple, he made it clear that he solved the issue and reopened the Beerappa temple, as the idols were previously at the old temple and kept in the community hall.
