Kerala liquor policy: K Muraleedharan frets and fumes
Thiruvananthapuram: Close on the heels of RSP leader Shibu Baby John Congress legislator K. Muraleedharan has also blamed the flawed liquor policy for the UDF government's fall, He said there was no point in discussing whether it was successful or not as it helped the party to shift from Cliff House to Cantonment House. He alleged that the policy was adopted without proper discussions. On Friday, Mr John and INTUC state president R. Chandrasekharan had taken such a position publicly, embarrassing the UDF leaders.
“It announced the liquor policy at the Cliff House, and then we had to move to the Cantonment House. I agree with what Mr John said,” he said, urging leaders to leave the past and protest against the revised policy. However, he gave a rude jolt to Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala calling the UDF’s protests in the last one month a failure. He also gave a piece of his mind to his front colleagues by citing that the protest against the LDF government should not be like a ritual like tonsuring at Rameshwaram. Though the UDF at its meeting on Friday decided against making public statements, his outburst reveals that all is not well. His comment is also going to figure at the high power Political Affairs Committee meeting on Tuesday.
