KOCHI: In view of the widespread complaints against water- logging and traffic woes caused by Metro Rail construction in the city, mayor Soumini Jain has sent a letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan seeking immediate measures to review the situation and to address the grievances. He was urged to convene an emergency meeting of people’s representatives and government department officials to discuss the matter.
Metro works are causing severe flooding and traffic problems in the city due to damaged and clogged drains and poor road condition. “The city areas are facing heavy water-logging, especially along the Metro corridor. Many roads are in a bad condition. Since the Metro authorities have closed many stretches of city roads, commuters are having a tough time. The Chief Minister should intervene as the city residents are up in arms against the civic authorities,” the Mayor said in the letter.
