Face challenges and emerge stronger, Governor tells students

HYDERABAD: Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundrarajan on Wednesday called on students to face challenges in life “head-on to emerge stronger with each hurdle.” The Governor, who launched the ‘Y20 India (Youth-20)’ celebrations at the English and Foreign Languages University (Eflu) campus, said “youth have an immense role to play in our country's progress towards sustainability and self-reliance. They should become psychologically, emotionally, and physically strong to face the challenges with courage.”

The Y20 celebrations are being held in various universities across the country as a part of India’s G20 presidency.

Dr Tamilisai also advised students to practice yoga on a regular basis and take up sports as a part of daily life. “Under the visionary leadership of our Prime Minister, our country is steadily transforming into a self-reliant nation,” she said.

Prof. E Suresh Kumar, the Eflu Vice-Chancellor, and member of the University Grants Commission, said India has the great advantage of having a higher percentage of youth population. “It is time that we harness the power of youthful demography to our country's advantage,” he said.

As part of the event, the Governor distributed cash prizes to winners and certificates to the participants of the Y20 India elocution competitions organised by Eflu.

Later, the Governor took part in an informal interactive session with students as part of the Meet A Leading Light (MALL) initiative of the university.
