CM to open Sea Harrier museum today in Vizag

VISHAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam city will soon be on the world map with a series of new projects coming up in the ensuing days, said municipal administration minister Adimulapu Suresh.

The minister visited on Wednesday the Sea Harrier aircraft museum, which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy along with other facilities on Thursday.

The Sea Harrier Jet Museum has been developed at an expenditure of ₹10 crore jointly by the Indian Navy and Andhra Pradesh government. The British-made reconnaissance and attack aircraft, the last of the Sea Harrier series to be decommissioned in 2016, has been brought to Visakhapatnam from Goa.

Suresh checked out the arrangements at the museum along with collector Dr. A Mallikarjuna, GVMC commissioner Saikant Varma and others.

Speaking to reporters, Suresh said the chief minister will arrive in the city in the morning and straight away fly to Madhuravada by helicopter to unveil the statue of Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA cricket stadium.

Later he will move to the Health City in Arilova by road, where he will inaugurate the oncology block of Apollo Hospitals. From there, he will reach RK Beach and open the Sea Harrier museum.

Close to this museum, the CM will also open the renovated indoor swimming pool complex run by the GVMC, followed by opening of VMRDA Commercial Complex at Ramanagar in Visakhapatnam.

“The Chief Minister will launch all these facilities in virtual mode from the Sea Harrier Museum Complex,” the minister clarified.

Before flying back to Amaravati, Jagan Mohan Reddy will attend the wedding reception of Payakaraopeta MLA Golla Babu Rao’s son at the AU Convention Hall at R.K. Beach.
