Thailand targets 600 Indian weddings in 2018
Chennai: Lavish Indian weddings at posh hotels, some seafront, in Thailand has made the authorities to explore the scope for abundant weddings of the Indians in their country. Fascinated with the Indian weddings, Thailand which saw over 300 Indian weddings in that country last year, hopes to double the number by this year- end.
Santi Chudintra, Deputy Governor for Asia Market who welcomed the Indian wedding planners and the 26 Thai private sectors, says Indian wedding planners play a crucial role in promoting Thailand as the most preferred wedding destination. “India is one of the key markets for us, last year we witnessed more than 300 Indian weddings in Thailand and we aim at doubling the number by the end of 2018.”
Tourism Authority of Thailand realises the importance of the wedding segment in India and aims to target more of Indian weddings through the Indian wedding Symposium and B2B session 2018 exclusively for the Indian market. Thailand is among the top ranking destinations for wedding couples from all over the world especially Australia, UK, USA and Hong Kong.
Next to Thailand, Turkey attracts Indians who are considered as the big spenders on weddings. The flamboyance of million-dollar Indian celebrations has fascinated the Turkish media.
By 2020, Indian outbound travel is estimated to reach 48 million and foreign tourist arrival is forecasted to cross the 10 million mark.
Today, Indians are expanding their travel maps and are travelling beyond countries like Thailand, Singapore or Dubai to Turkey, Amsterdam, Ajman, Paris, New Zealand and Spain, according to the annual AccorHotels Showcase 2018.
