New pilot programme to improve schools' performance: C Raveendranath

As many as 14 schools will be selected with one from each district for the programme.

Thiruvananthapuram: Education Minister C. Raveendranath on Thursday announced a new pilot programme from the next academic year to improve the performance of schools which did not do well in this year's Plus-Two examinations. As many as 14 schools will be selected with one from each district, he said while announcing the results of Plus-Two examinations.

The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education will roll out special programmes and classes for the students of these schools. Malappuram district continued to have the maximum number of students (53,915) for the higher secondary examination. The lowest number was from Wayanad district (9042).

St Mary's HSS, Pattom, had the highest number of candidates (834) with a pass percentage of 83.63. Gender wise, 90.31 percent of girl students became eligible for higher studies, against 76.19 percent boys. Out of the 3,290 students who appeared in the old syllabus, 1,748 qualified for higher studies. The pass percentage is 53.13 per cent.
