District cops initiate weapon practice for armed forces
Hyderabad: Practice makes police more perfect -- It is being implemented by the Nagarkurnool police after the Superintendent of Police Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath initiated regular practice for armed reserve police staff by using weapons.
Hundreds of armed reserve forces are deployed for security for MLAs, MPs, Ministers, and other VVIPs in districts to prevent untoward incidents. However, the armed reserve forces only participate in weapon practice rarely in the academy.
To update technology and physical practice, the Nagarkurnool SP initiated in providing regular practice for armed reserve staff using weapons. The SP started weapon practice and asked all armed reserve staff to participate in refresher training of weapons at Jadcherla firing range.
The Nagarkurnool SP Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath said that the armed reserve police have deployed at VVIPs to guard them. Keeping in mind security issues, they provide regular training and practice in using weapons at Jadcherla firing range. The senior officials and armed reserve forces are participating in the weapon practice.
"When the forces have regular practice in using weapons, they shall be sharp and have proper knowledge on using weapons. The regular practice also will give confidence among the staff in using weapons in emergency situations. We asked all armed reserve staff and senior police officers to participate without fail," the SP said.
The officials further stated that training in weapons and firing practice would be conducted in such a way as to provide complete awareness regarding the advanced technology in the changing times, as a part of which the district SP and additional district SPs, DSPs and other personnel would conduct firing practice at the firing range.
In the academy in the city, two firing ranges for firing practice to the officers trainees on the moving targets, sliding targets, turning targets available in the first short firing range (For short range weapons) Second long firing range (For long range weapons). In the districts, the officers initiated short range weapon practice to have knowledge on weapon usage.
