Karimnagar: The week-long Rythu Bandhu celebrations organised by MLA Rasamayi Balakishan ended on a grand note in Manakondur of Karimnagar district on Monday.

The week saw depositing of Rythu Bandhu amounts into the bank accounts of farmers. MLA Balakishan held a series of events involving students, women and youth of the Manakondur assembly segment, also by way of an image-boost to the legislator.

Essay writing and elocution competitions were held for students on January 5, 6 and 7, rangoli competitions were conducted for women in various mandals on January 8, while Kabaddi and cricket tournaments were organised for youths on January 9 and 10.

The women, youth and farmers participated in large numbers on the final day of the celebrations. Women gave a warm welcome to Balakishan by carrying Bathukammas and Bonalu depicting the Telangana culture and tradition.

The MLA attended the celebrations dressed like a farmer and riding a bullock cart. He also participated in the prize distribution ceremony at the Rythu Vedika in the mandal headquarter in Manakondur.

Balakishan lauded the participants of various events as also the public representatives and officials of the agriculture department for the successful conduct of the Rythu Bandhu celebrations. He gave away prizes to the winners of various events and competitions.
