Authorities fill up dug up portions of nala work left unattended for months

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Thursday rushed to Deendayal Nagar in Neredmet to fill up dug up portions of a nala work that were left unattended for months, following a report in Deccan Chronicle on how the pits had turned into mosquito breeding grounds, with the insects spreading dengue fever in the locality.

The work that was pending for last six months, was completed within a few hours, following publication of the report on the sorry state of affairs in Deendayal Nagar in these columns.

“I am in shock. It’s unbelievable. I was out of town for the past few days, and was surprised that I could actually drive up to my house. Earlier, I used to park my bike on the other side of the road and walk all the way to my house. After waiting for six months, finally we will now get rid of blood sucking mosquitoes,” Mohan a resident said.
