Religious Fervour Marks Commencement of Karthika Brahmotsavams at Tiruchanoor Temple

Tirupati: The annual Karthika Brahmotsavams of the Goddess Padmavathi Devi Ammavaru Temple in Tiruchanoor commenced on a spiritual note with the traditional Dhwajaarohanam or the hoisting of the sacred flag on Friday.

Adhering to the Pancharatra Agama procedures, the day began with pre-dawn rituals, including the Suprabhata seva, to awaken the Goddess. The atmosphere was spiritually surcharged as special pujas were held at the Yagashala, focusing on the holy flag adorned with the image of Gaja - the divine elephant.

Chanting hymns, the priests hoisted the traditional Gaja Patham onto the temple mast, symbolically inviting all deities to partake in the nine-day religious extravaganza. The ceremony lasted nearly two hours, marking a sacred start to the Ammavari Brahmotsavam.

Deputy chief minister K Narayana Swamy presented silk vastrams to the Tiruchanoor temple on Friday. Tradition is to offer a Pattu saree to the presiding deity, Padmavathi Devi Ammavaru, making the annual Brahmotsavams.

TTD executive officer AV Dharma Reddy emphasized the significance of the Ammavari Brahmotsavams’ initiation with the flag hoisting ceremony. He promised the devotees a comfortable darshan experience of Vahana sevas on the mada streets. He also highlighted the steps taken to ensure a hassle-free darshan.

In anticipation of the large turnout during the pivotal Gaja Vahana Seva and Panchami Theertham, EO Dharma Reddy assured the devotees that all arrangements have been made for a smooth conduct of the events and the safety of the participants.

In the evening, Goddess Padmavathi took a ride on the Chinna Sesha Vahanam, representing the serpent king Vasuki, to spread awareness of the divine Kundalini energy. Devotees believe that witnessing this procession invokes the blessings and protection of the benevolent Goddess, reaffirming their faith.

Meanwhile, the Hindu Maha Sabha Trust chairman Vasanta Kumar presented six umbrellas to the Tiruchanoor temple. TTD JEO V Veerabrahmam, deputy EO Govinda Rajan, VGO Bali Reddy, Agama adviser Srinivasa Acharyulu, Kankana Bhattar Manikanta Swamy, and others were present.
