Kochi: Top political leaders are trying to protect DySP Harikumar the accused in the Neyyanttinkara murder case, alleged UDF convener Benny Behnan. While speaking to media here on Friday he said that the accused police officer is a key link in the CPM - police mafia nexus.
"Kerala police has lost discipline and the force is functioning in a most unscrupulous manner. Government should make it clear how an officer against whom the Intelligence wing submitted several warnings, continued in DySP post. The government has kept the report with details of police officers with criminal record secret," he added.
According to UDF convener, DGP Loknath Behera is the weakest police chief the state has ever seen.
"It is the apathetic approach of the government in custodial death cases which is the major reason for such heinous incidents."
He also demanded immediate arrest of BJP state chief P. S Sreedharan Pillai over his controversial speech.
