UP: Woman dies of shock after being wrongly told of Rs 1000 bank rule

DM Kushinagar Shambhu Kumar said that the officials from the revenue department have been asked to visit the house of the deceased woman

Gorakhpur: A 40-year-old woman allegedly died on Wednesday due to shock after she informed that banks will not accept Rs 1000 denomination notes.

Tirtharaji, resident of Kushinagar district came to know about demonetisation move only after she reached the bank.

According to the Hindustan Times, incident came to light when the pictures of the woman’s body lying with two Rs 1000 notes went viral on social media.

The reports say that the woman had saved Rs 2000 and got them exchanged with the demoninations of Rs 1000 notes so it would easier for her to carry to the bank.

District magistrate Kushinagar Shambhu Kumar said that the officials from the revenue department have been asked to visit the house of the deceased woman.

“If the death was due to shock then necessary actions will be taken.”
