Hyderabad: 82 pharma firms told to close shop

Including 64 from Telangana and 18 from Andhra Pradesh.

Hyderabad: Around 82 pharmaceutical companies, including 64 from Telangana and 18 from Andhra Pradesh, have been served closure orders by the Central Pollution Control Board for not complying with orders to install a continuous online pollution monitoring system.

It has been two years since the CPCB has been ordering all the firms across the country falling under 17 categories of highly polluting industries to set up an online monitoring system.

This system will not just help the Pollution Control Board to monitor pollution levels in real time but also help bring in transparency as the data will appear on a publicly-available website.
