BJP set to take nepotism to court

Blaming Industries Minister Jayarajan for nepotism, Ramesh sought his resignation.

Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP leadership has decided to approach the court on the nepotism row over the appointment of relatives by CPM leaders. BJP general secretary M. T. Ramesh has said that despite their two senior leaders - former State president V. Muraleedharan and general secretary K. Surendran - giving complaints to vigilance director Jacob Thomas, they would also approach the court against industries minister E. P. Jayarajan. Blaming Industries Minister Jayarajan for nepotism, Ramesh sought his resignation. He said if Jayarajan was not willing, then Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan should expel him.

“VS demanding action against Jayarajan is recognition for Opposition parties including the BJP. We welcome the statement of Administrative Reorms Committee chairman V. S. Achuthanandan that the nepotism row should be probed”, said Ramesh. He also added that he would file a case after the court re-opens after the Pooja holidays. “The argument that such things happened without the knowledge of the party has been belied by the revelation of Kannur MP P K Sreemathy. The then party secretary Pinarayi Vijayan owes a reply when Sreemathy has openly stated that her daughter-in-law was appointed with the directive of the party”, added Ramesh.

But within two hours of posting the controversial post on her Facebook page, Sreemathy deleted it. Later in the evening, Pinarayi Vijayan disowned the statement of Sreemathy citing that the party was not aware of her daughter in-law Deepthy being appointed in her personal staff.
