Congress office comes under attack in Periya
KASARGOD: Miscreants vandalised the District Congress Committee office (Priyadarshini Mandiram) in Periya here in the wee hours of Saturday. The Congress alleged that CPM was behind the attack and Ambalathara police registered a case against two men from the area. SI Rajagopal M.E. told DC that the incident could be an attack by drunkards in an inebriated state and may not be political.
The Priyadarshini Kala Kayika Vedi (cultural centre) and TV Devadas Memorial Centre attached to the DCC office were also attacked, for the third time in a row and the police action was not timely, alleged Congress leaders. “The fuse of the transformer near the office was removed, and the area was in the dark when the incident happened. So, it can not be concluded as just an attack by miscreants. Earlier also, when such attacks took place, the police just summoned up the culprits. No cases were charged against them,” said cultural centre secretary, Manoj Kumar.
