Thiruvananthapuram: Culprit in bomb attack on loose

The BJP office near Barton Hill was formerly called Poonjar Bhavan as it housed Poonjar MLA P.C. George.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram city police are yet to arrest the lone man who threw country bombs at the BJP state committee office at Kunnukuzhy the other day. The probe team members said they were also considering the role of three gangs in Barton Hill colony in connection with the case. As per police sources, the trade union offices of various political parties used to be often stoned by anti-socials who operate peddling business here.

“The attack on the BJP office which happened on Tuesday midnight was an act of a loner. Attacks by political parties are not usually staged by a single person. Hence, we are also probing anti-social elements,” officials said. Around six different teams under Assistant Commissioner K.E. Baiju are verifying CCTV footages across the city. A footage of the bomb hurling was recorded on the CCTV at a house here.

The BJP office near Barton Hill was formerly called Poonjar Bhavan as it housed Poonjar MLA P.C. George. The BJP took the premises on rent prior to the Assembly elections and made it their election committee office. “We are yet to identify the suspect and are verifying all aspects,” said city police commissioner Sparjan Kumar.
