TS set for humid week, little rain

HYDERABAD: Parts of the city experienced short spells of light rainfall on Wednesday afternoon, but the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a break in rain spells till the next week, with hazy and humid days set to return.

The IMD said that the southwest monsoon over Telangana is weak and rains were recorded mostly at isolated places across the state. The highest rainfall in the state was 9.3 mm, which was recorded in Palwancha of Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

Mercury levels across the state also surged, with Nalgonda recording a state-high temperature of 38 degrees Celsius (°C).

While the IMD did forecast light to moderate rain at isolated places across the state over the next five days, the city will experience light rains or drizzle as hazy conditions are likely to prevail in the morning.

Surface winds will be westerlies, with a speed of six to eight kmph, with maximum and minimum temperatures of 32°C and 24°C, respectively, and relative humidity of 77 per cent.
