Award for teachers, students from Tamil Nadu government
Chennai: The state government has announced to reward teachers and students who attend school all through the year without taking leave with commendation certificates.
“The students and teachers who attend the school without taking leave will be provided letter of appreciation,” school education minister P. Benjamin informed. Winding up the discussion on the demand for grants for his department in the Assembly House on Tuesday, he said it has been proposed to distribute computers at a cost of Rs 4 crore to the officials to effectively monitor the distribution of education aid to the students.
He said the government would take up e-publication of books for the benefit of 12 lakh students studying in tenth standard at a cost of Rs 9 lakhs. The educationally backward unions would get 44 model schools and the students would be provided computers to enhance their learning skills. This project would be implemented at a cost of Rs 4 crore
Solar energy would be used to power the 32 district libraries at a cost of '64 lakhs. He said a special coaching centre would be established at a cost of '4.20 lakhs for the benefit of visually impaired teachers clear the eligibility test. Mr Benjamin who also holds the sports and youth welfare portfolio announced the CM had ordered to equip the Aquatic complex at Velacherry here to hold national and international events. Accordingly, about Rs 2.57 crore would be spent to improve the infrastructure.
