Man dies as ambulance stuck at railway crossing in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR: A 43-year-old cardiac arrest patient died on Sunday while his ambulance was forced to wait for over 15 minutes at a railway-level crossing in
Theegalaguttapally in Karimnagar district, waiting for a train to pass. Police said the deceased, Bhupalli Vijay of Sthambhampalle village, Jagtial district, had gone along with his wife Sudhivana to Mallapur, Dharmaram mandal, to meet their daughter Spandana who studies at a social welfare residential school there.

He suffered a cardiac arrest there and the school management called an ambulance to take him to a hospital in Karimnagar. With the vehicle stranded
at the level crossing, ambulance staff kept up cardiopulmonary resuscitation
but Bhupalli died.

Having learnt of the death, BJP leaders, under the leadership of Karimnagar
parliamentary constituency convener B. Praveen Rao gathered at the spot and
held protest and stated that the state government had not taken up the
construction of a road overbridge at the level crossing even though the
the Centre had given ₹154 crores of central funds.
