2 dead, one missing as boats overturn in sea

VISAKHAPATNAM: Two fishermen drowned and another is reported missing in two different instances of boats overturning in the sea off Srikakulam district on Sunday morning.

In the first incident, six fishermen from Bandaruvanipeta of Gara mandal ventured into the sea. A little later, their boat overturned due to high waves. Of the six, four fishermen Guntu, Ganapathi, Pukkalla and Lakshmayya swam ashore. The names of the two fishermen missing are yet to be known.

later. In the other incident, a group of four fishermen from Kapasakuddi village of
Kaviti mandal went into the sea. Their boat overturned due to high-velocity winds.

While three swam to safety, Bade Dilesu, 40, got trapped under the boat and drowned. He is survived by his wife Tirupatamma, son Balu and daughter Anjali. Police have registered cases in both incidents.
