Thiruvananthapuram: Camp creates awareness on fever prevention
Thiruvananthapuram: A medical awareness camp on preventive measures of the highly prevalent contagious fever was held under the auspices of the NSS unit of Dr C. T. Eapen Memorial Higher Secondary School Muthupilakkadu, Sasthamcotta, Kollam. The classes were led by a team of doctors Dr Sabitha Vijayan, Dr Asha V. Sasi and Dr Geetha K. S. of the Government Homoeo Department. After the class, preventive homoeo pills were distributed to the staff, students and public who attended the meeting. School PTA President S. B. Jagadeesh, vice-president Rajendran, Principal Sunil Thomas and NSS Programme Officer Mary Jacob spoke.
Reading corner: The students and teachers of Concordia Lutheran HSS, Kudappanakunnu, have opened up a project for providing the public with the facility for reading newspapers and weeklies in their leisure time. A reading corner has been set up at the Freemen’s bus stop opposite the Kudappanakunnu zonal office. A group of students who stay close to the school will keep the newspapers of every day in the rack provided by the school in the bus stop along with other magazines and weeklies. The school will provide a bench and desk for the people to sit and read. Under the guidance of the teachers, they would look after and take them back at dusk. Ward councillor Anita inaugurated the facility.
Traffic awareness class: A traffic awareness camp was held at Viswaprakash Central School, Mangattukadavu, Thirumala here. Traffic SI Abhilash took a class on traffic rules.
Doctorate awarded: Rajan K. Varughese, the principal of St Thomas Residential School, Mukkolakkal has been awarded honorary doctorate by the University of South America for his contribution to the school education field. Mr Varughese was earlier a teacher of the Sainik School, Kazhakuttom.
