LDF calls to fight against Sangh Parivar attacks
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: LDF state leadership has called for protest meeting against the growing attack of RSS and affiliated organisations against the party and its leaders. The protest meetings will be held in all district headquarters on June 12. LDF convener Vaikom Viswan alleged that CPM offices were being targeted and flag posts, banners and publicity material were being destroyed. “All secular and democratic forces should to fight Sangh Parivar attacks,” Referring to the attack on party general secretary Sitaram Yechury in Delhi, Vaikom Viswan alleged that the Delhi police had let off the persons behind the attack with minor charges.
This clearly indicated that the attack was part of a larger conspiracy, he said. The LDF convener said Yechury who is the CPM leader in Rajya Sabha should have been given adequate security by Delhi police. But the Delhi Police was acting like a pawn in the hands of BJP. He said the intelligence wing of Kerala police had given advance intelligence input to Centre and Delhi police about possible attack by Sangh Parivar activists during the politburo meeting at the AKG Bhavan. However, the information was completely ignored.
Campaign against slaughter ban
CPM state secretariat on Saturday discussed the fall out of the restrictions imposed by Centre on sale of cattle for slaughter. The leadership felt that the Centre’s move needed to be fought both legally and politically. The party was of the opinion that on the political front mobilisation of people was necessary to counter the Sangh Parivar agenda which imposed curbs on the right to food of individuals.
The party leaders said the Assembly special session and initiative taken by the chief minister to bring chief ministers of other states on board against the Centre’s notification should be followed up with concrete decisions to take the campaign forward. The secretariat reviewed the situation arising out of the series of attacks on party offices across the state by RSS BJP. It called upon the party units to mobilise people in large number to expose the Sangh Parivar terror tactics to gain politician ground in the state.
