Keep restraint, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan tells partymen
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Friday appealed to party workers to maintain maximum restraint even in the face of grave provocation from RSS and BJP who were trying to foment trouble in the state. At a press conference here, Mr Kodiyeri urged the workers to mobilise people and expose the violent attacks unleashed by Sangh Parivar. The CPM state secretary asked party workers to keep off attacks on the offices of rival political parties. He said RSS-BJP had scaled up violence after BJP national president Amit Shah’s recent visit.
“At a recent meeting, RSS decided not to allow CPM workers to function. CPM leaders were threatened that they would not be allowed to step into Delhi,” Mr Kodiyeri alleged. The CPM leader alleged the attack on Sitaram Yechury, attack on Kozhikode district committee office with the motive to eliminate district secretary P. Mohanan and the assault on DYFI leader Jinesh in Ernakulam were part of a larger conspiracy against the party. Mr Kodiyeri alleged that during his recent visit, Mr Shah told the BJP workers that there were sly tricks to capture power in Kerala. “I think what is happening now is part of that strategy,” he said.
“When CPM leaders are attacked there will be resistance from the party. This would lead to violence across the state creating a volatile situation. This is what the RSS is expecting from the violent activities,” Mr Kodiyeri said. The CPM leader demanded re-investigation into Fazal murder case in the wake of the confession made by RSS worker Subheesh. The RSS worker has confessed that the murder was carried out by them. Kodiyeri said Karayi Rajan and Karayi Chandrashekharan were put in jail on the charges of criminal conspiracy. He said the CBI should arrest the real culprits. Justifying the wrong would amount to travesty of justice.
