Karnataka High Court denies bail to murder accused
BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Yuva Brigade leader Naresh Shenoy, accused in the murder of RTI activist Vinayak Panduranga Baliga.
Vinayak Baliga was hacked to death near his house at Kala Kunj Road, Kodialbail on March 21. The prime accused, Naresh Shenoy, who is absconding, had earlier approached the lower court seeking anticipatory bail. The lower court had dismissed his bail plea following which he had approached the high court.
The high court rejected his plea after the prosecution cited that the accused has strong political connections could destroy evidence and influence witnesses in the case.
Obalaraju denied bail
The Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act (KCOCA) Special Court on Thursday rejected the bail petition of Obalaraju, an accused arrested by the CID police in connection with the second PU question paper leak case.
Obalaraju, who was personal assistant to Medical Education Minister, had applied for bail in the case before the special court. As his petition, seeking that he could not booked under the KCOCA Act, is pending before the High Court, the special court rejected bail to him. He is accused of getting question paper from kingpin Kiran for his son, who was appearing for second PU exams.
