Kochi: It is another day and another politician made a faux pas at the expense of another sportsperson. Congress leader K. Sudhakaran, a former sport minister, who called for a press conference on Thursday to criticise the state sports minister E.P. Jayarajan, who allegedly insulted athlete Anju Bobby George, referred to her as the wife of legendary volleyball player Jimmy George.
Social media mocked at Sudhakaran for the gaffe and made fun of his remarks. Mr K. Sudhakaran in a press meet, criticised Mr Jayarajan. He even went on to criticise the ignorance of Mr Jayarajan in the world of sports. However, during his emotional outburst against Jayarajan, Mr Sudhakaran referred Jimmy George’s name, who is in fact Anju’s late brother-in-law.
Social media took over the issue and as usual several ‘trolls’ were made. Facebook pages focused on satire came up with comic strips and photoshopped images on the issue. “Jayarajan has now handed the baton over to Sudhakaran” one post read. Last week, Mr Jayarajan had called boxer Muhammed Ali as Kerala’s favourite son who won laurels for the state.
